Je viens de recevoir un email de Trisport Canada (organisateur d’Ironman Muskoka 70.3) m’incitant à m’inscrire le plus rapidement possible à leur course puisque les tarifs vont augmenter… tout cela accompagné d’une petite note pas trop trop agréable…
For over 20 years now our triathlon events have been subject to 5% GST (goods and services tax included in the cost of the event). This year all sporting events will be charged and extra 8% PST (previously exempt) as well as the 5% GST. The new term for this blended tax is the HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) totaling 13% tax on all entry fees.
The government has asked us to start collecting the HST for this race starting May 1st 2010.
Donc voilà, augmentation de 20$ sur votre inscription… comme si cela n’était déjà pas assez cher!
Effectivement, cela ne changera pas grand chose sur la motivation des participants à faire ou pas cette course. Le problème, est que lorsque l’on voit un gouvernement provincial ou fédéral investir dans de la publicité pour nous inciter à faire plus d’activité physique… La réponse du gouvernement est de taxer encore plus les sportifs. Je trouve cela navrant. Quand je pense que j’étais convaincu que les activités sportives étaient déductibles dans mes impôts… ouf!
