We knew it was coming. Some ITU names will race the Ironman Olympic distance race 5150. ITU race are hard for north american because they need to be based in Europe since 4 races are there. So the 5150 is a good option for them. Bevan Docherty (based in California) is used to do Olympic no drafting race in the US… but new names are now exploring that option as… Kathy Tremblay! We are not blaming them, but we are just afraid of the bad effect that could happen if there are too much races. Of course, while north americans do 5150, european are doing french or german championship… it’s lucrative.
On le savait que cela risquait d’arriver. Quelques noms connus d’ITU participeront à la course de distance Olympique d’ironman – 5150. Si vous ne le savez pas, il est difficile pour un nord-américain de s’adapter aux exigences de la série mondiale ITU puisque vous devez être basé en Europe pendant l’été puisque 4 courses ont lieu là. Cela devient trop demandant pour des athlètes avec des familles, Reed, Potts ou même Whitfield et trop cher pour des athlètes en développement. Alors, il n’est pas étonnant de voir des noms connus participer à la course de St-Anthony comme Kathy Tremblay. On ne condamne pas leur infidélité à l’ITU, mais on est préoccupé par le phénomène du trop de courses qui finissent par tuer l’engouement.
