Parallèlement à la coupe du monde de Edmonton, les championnats Patco junior (lire ici Nord-Américain) de triathlon ITU ont aussi lieu ce week-end!
Pour la plupart des juniors canadiens, c’est a course la plus importante de la saison. Pour 2-3 de ces juniors, cette course leur permettra (en partie) de participer aux championnats du monde plus tard dans la saison.
C’est aussi une super belle occasion pour les juniors de voir les séniors courser sur la coupe du monde, le même week-end, sur sensiblement les mêmes parcours!
Ce sont Marc-Antoine Christin (MAC), Francis Lefebvre, Phil Deschamps et Charles Khazoom qui représenteront le Québec ce week-end à Edmonton. Il est très réaliste de dire que les 4 peuvent entrer dans le top 10 de la course, si tout va bien.
Charles Breault, Connor Foreman, Riley MacCharles, Tyler Myslawchuk, Brook Powell, Derek Quick, Riley Unger, et le gagnant de la Course Nationale de St-Malo, Tristan Woodfine complèteront l’équipe Canadienne pour la course.
J’ai croisé Francis Lefebvre à la piscine aujourd’hui, et il semblait prêt… Euhh plutôt devais-je dire stressé… Non, sans blague, C’est la première fois pour Francis à un niveau si élevé, Gageons qu’il ne donnera pas sa place 🙂
Chez les femmes, Amélie Kretz (QC) et Alizée Brien (QC) s’aligneront aux côtés de Joanna Brown, Gabriella Edwards, Allison Hooper, Dominika Jamnicky, Janessa Klat, Elsabet Lapointe, Abby Miller, Ellen Pennock, Christine Ridenour et Hillary Wille pour représenter le Canada.
Forte d’une troisième position aux derniers championnats du monde, Joanna Brown, qui à préféré passé par dessus Coteau du Lac pour se concentrer sur les Patco, sera probablement la fille à battre!

In the same time as the Edmonton World Cup, the Patco junior championship will be help in the same city.
For most of the canadian juniors, it’s gonna be their most important race of the year. For probably 2-3 of these juniors, this exact race will (partially) allow them to race at the world championship, later this year. It’s also a really good opportunity for them to watch the senior WC race, which takes place on the week-end, on mostly the same courses.
Representing Quebec will be Marc-Antoine Christin (MAC), Francis Lefebvre, Phil Deschamps and Charles Khazoom. It is realistic to say that they all have a chance to make it to the top 10!

I ran into Francis Lefebvre today at the pool and he looked ready… Hummm or should I say stressed!. No kiding, It’s gonna be Francis’s first race at this level and probably not his last :).
