Badaboom > Rev3 Old Orchard Beach Main = Timberman Killer!

Revolution3 Triathlon is pleased to announce a brand new location for the 2012 season! On August 26, 2012 Rev3in partnership with OOB365, the local merchants’ association, will launch a new Olympic and Half Rev race in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.  Pro and age group athletes are invited to compete in both distances for cash prizes.
The Olympic distance comprises a .93 mile swim, 24.86 mile bike and 6.2 mile run and the Half Rev race is a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run.  Both swim legs will take place in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.  The bike course starts out flat and fast before taking riders into a series of rolling hills, giving them the chance to experience the beauty of the surrounding Maine farmland and countryside.  Tall pine trees provide shade over much of the course, which winds through Saco, Dayton, Lyman, Waterboro, Hollis, and Old Orchard Beach.  The run course is an out-and-back, giving athletes the chance to finish out the race on a flat and fast course that includes sweeping views of the Scarborough Marsh and over a portion of the storied Eastern Trail.  Athletes will cross the finish line in downtown Old Orchard Beach.
Old Orchard Beach is a beautiful 7-mile strip of sandy beach that has operated for more than 170 years.  The beach welcomes families and tourists alike, encouraging them to take advantage of weekly fireworks and concerts, fishing, whale watch tours, top-notch golf and more.  The crown jewel of Old Orchard Beach is it’s pier, which stretches out nearly 500 feet over the Atlantic Ocean.  The Pier is home to restaurants, shops, games and nightlife.  Families are also encouraged to visit Palace Playland Park, New England’s only beachfront amusement park.   “Old Orchard Beach is a great addition to our race roster.  It’s a beautiful area with a lot of history and OOB365 has been a great partner in helping us to realize the full potential of the location,” says Charlie Patten, president of Rev3.
Revolution3 provides a triathlon race experience that provides a memorable experience for the entire family, and tailors its races to ensure a superior event.  Rev3 races are weekend-long events, with activities offered for people of every age, often featuring concerts, outdoor movies or athlete and family-only admission to the host theme park prior to the race.  Revolution3 has also gained a reputation for attracting many of the top pros in the sport, and offers spectators and age group athletes the opportunity to see them up close and on the course.
